OSRS Slayer Masters: All 9 Ranked By Combat Level (2026) | Probemas

Last Updated: 2026-05-26

Old School RuneScape has 9 Slayer Masters: Turael, Spria, Mazchna, Vannaka, Chaeldar, Konar quo Maten, Nieve (or Steve), Duradel, and Krystilia. Each is gated by combat level and pays a fixed 0 to 25 reward points per task. This guide ranks every master, their location, and the right one for your bracket.

Quick-reference table: all 9 Slayer Masters

Turael — the no-requirement entry master

Turael lives in his house just south of the general store in Burthorpe and is the only Slayer Master with zero combat or Slayer requirements. He assigns the easiest tasks in the game, awards 0 reward points per task, and his real long-term value is the "Turael skip" — bringing him a hard task from a higher master and changing it into something trivial without paying the 30-point skip fee.

Most players visit Turael exactly twice: once at the start to unlock Slayer itself, and again whenever a higher master rolls a task they hate. Blocking one of his tasks costs 40 reward points, and that block slot is shared with Spria and Aya. The fastest route in is a games necklace to the Burthorpe Games Room, then a short run east.

Best for: brand-new accounts under combat level 20, and anyone using the Turael-skip trick on a long task streak.

Spria — Turael's daughter with a niche task pool

Spria sits inside a house in Draynor Village and shares Turael's task list almost exactly. She also pays 0 points per task and her block slot is shared with Turael at 40 points. The one reason to know she exists: she is the only Slayer Master who assigns sourhogs, unlocked after the A Porcine of Interest quest.

Crucially, Spria cannot downgrade tasks from other masters into easier ones — that's still Turael's job. You also can't Turael-skip a Spria task. So her use case is narrow: a closer master for low-level Lumbridge-area accounts who want short tasks without trekking to Burthorpe, plus the sourhog niche.

Best for: low-combat accounts already running quests in the Lumbridge/Draynor area, and anyone chasing the sourhog Slayer log entry.

Mazchna — the level 20 step-up

Mazchna stands in north-eastern Canifis and is the second-lowest master, requiring combat level 20 and completion of Priest in Peril. He assigns mostly Morytania monsters — ghosts, banshees, crawling hands — which are great early Slayer XP without being dangerous. He pays 6 points per task, scaling to 30 at every 10th, 90 at every 50th, 150 at the 100th, 210 at the 250th, and 300 at the 1000th.

The points are low but real, which is the entire upgrade from Turael. Mazchna's tasks are also conveniently clustered around the Slayer Tower, so once you unlock crawling hands and banshees the travel time per task drops sharply. Block cost is 50 points.

Best for: combat 20-40 accounts who want their first points-paying master without dying on tougher mobs.

Vannaka — the mid-game points pivot

Vannaka is found in Edgeville Dungeon just east of the Wilderness lever, with a combat-level requirement of 40 and no quest gate. He awards 8 points per task, scaling 40 / 120 / 200 / 280 / 400 at the 10/50/100/250/1000-task milestones. Block cost is 60.

The Edgeville Dungeon location is the strongest argument for Vannaka — you're a short hop from the Edgeville bank, the Wilderness teleport network, and several common task spots (hill giants, hobgoblins, ankous). For players who can't yet meet Chaeldar's combat 70 gate, Vannaka is the best balance of points and convenience, and he counts toward a Varrock medium diary task.

Best for: combat 40-70 accounts. He is the natural successor to Mazchna and a default master for many mid-level Slayer pushes.

Chaeldar — the combat 70 power spike

Chaeldar resides in the throne room of Zanaris, directly south of the entrance from Lumbridge Swamp, and requires combat level 70 plus the Lost City quest. She pays 10 points per task (50 / 150 / 250 / 350 / 500 milestones) and her block cost is 70.

The combat 70 jump is where most players see their Slayer XP rate accelerate. Chaeldar's task pool covers efficient mid-tier monsters — bloodvelds, abyssal demons (once unlocked), greater demons, fire giants — and her points scale 25% better than Vannaka per task. Lost City is also a short quest, so the entry cost is low. She's a valid NPC Contact target via the Lunar spellbook, which lets higher-level accounts grab tasks remotely.

Best for: combat 70-85 accounts before Nieve unlocks. Many efficient Slayer players run Chaeldar all the way up to combat 100 if they're chasing specific task weights.

Konar quo Maten — Brimstone keys and location-locked tasks

Konar lives in the Kahlith settlement at the summit of Mount Karuulm in Great Kourend and gates her tasks behind combat level 75. She pays 18 points per task base, rising to 20 with the Elite Kourend & Kebos diary — the second-highest base rate of any non-Wilderness master. Block cost is 80.

Her unique mechanic is the location lock: every assignment comes with a specific area where the kills must happen, with equal weighting between eligible spots. In return, kills made at the assigned location have a chance to drop Brimstone keys, which open the chest next to Konar for valuable loot. Konar is also the only master who assigns Hydras and the Alchemical Hydra boss task, and her cape perk gives a 10% chance to re-roll the same monster at the same location.

Best for: combat 75+ accounts who want passive GP from Brimstone keys layered on top of points, and any account targeting Hydra unlocks.

Nieve and Steve — the late-game default

Nieve stands next to the Stronghold Slayer Cave in the Tree Gnome Stronghold and requires combat level 85. She pays 12 points per task base (60 / 180 / 300 / 420 / 600), rising to 15 / 75 / 225 / 375 / 525 / 750 after the Elite Western Provinces diary — which exactly matches Duradel's rates without the Slayer-50 requirement. Block cost is 90.

After Monkey Madness II, Nieve is killed by Glough and replaced by Steve, her younger cousin. Steve sits in the same location and inherits her exact role and point values. The only mechanical difference: Steve's task pool tilts toward brine rats, turoths, and Scabarites where Duradel doesn't assign them, and Steve never gives waterfiends. For most accounts the Nieve-to-Steve transition is invisible — same master, different name.

Best for: combat 85-99 accounts that haven't hit 50 Slayer for Duradel yet, and any account with Elite Western Provinces complete (the diary upgrade closes the points gap with Duradel entirely).

Duradel — the highest-tier master

Duradel is the highest-level standard Slayer Master, found above the fishing shop in Shilo Village. Reaching him requires combat level 100 and Slayer level 50, plus completion of the Shilo Village quest to enter the village itself. He pays 15 points per task, scaling 75 / 225 / 375 / 525 / 750 at the milestones, with a block cost of 100.

Duradel's task list is the densest in the game — Abyssal demons, Dark beasts, Greater Nechryael, Smoke devils, all the high-XP monsters cluster on his weights. Combined with the points payout, he's the default master for any end-game Slayer player who hasn't pushed Konar for Brimstone keys or Krystilia for Wilderness points. Note: in OSRS there is no Duradel replacement (Lapalok is RS3-only).

Best for: combat 100+ with 50 Slayer. This is where most maxed and near-maxed accounts park.

Krystilia — the Wilderness specialist

Krystilia is found in Edgeville's jail just north-east of the bank and has no combat-level requirement, but she refuses to assign tasks until you've completed at least one regular Slayer task elsewhere. Every task she gives must be completed in the Wilderness, and she pays the most points of any master: 25 per task, scaling 125 / 375 / 625 / 875 / 1,250 across the milestones. Block cost is 100.

She uses a separate streak counter from the standard masters, so you can't carry a normal task and a Wilderness task at the same time, and Turael-skipping her tasks resets the Wilderness streak. The trade-off is real PK risk in exchange for the highest points-per-task in the game plus Larran's key drops, worth roughly six figures each on the Grand Exchange, plus Slayer's enchantment rolls.

Best for: players comfortable in the Wilderness who want to farm Slayer reward points faster than anywhere else. Bring a teleport-disabled risk loadout — see our OSRS PKing guide for safe-spot patterns.

How Slayer reward points work and what to spend them on

Slayer points are earned starting from your 5th completed task in a row from any non-Turael master — the first four tasks pay nothing, then bonus multipliers stack: 5x at every 10th task, 15x at every 50th, 25x at every 100th, 35x at every 250th, 50x at every 1,000th. Averaged across a 1,000-task streak, you bank roughly 1.775x the base point value per task.

The highest-leverage points to spend on, in order:

  1. Block slots — unlock at 100 points each (up to six slots total). Each blocked task means you never see it again, which is the single biggest XP-per-hour boost.
  2. Slayer helmet imbue — 1,250 points, makes the helm work everywhere including the Wilderness.
  3. Ring bling — 300 points to craft Slayer rings (one-tick teleport to dozens of monsters).
  4. Learn the finer points — 300 points to extend tasks and unlock the slug Cave Horrors / Aviansies / Spiritual creatures unlock chain.
  5. Cosmetic unlocks like the 1,000-point Dark Mantle — save these for after the functional ones.

Total to clear every functional reward and unlock every block slot is roughly 3,580 points (about 250 tasks at 15 base points), with a further ~8,000 points needed for the cosmetic helm recolours on top.

Which Slayer Master should I use?

Match your account to the bracket below. These match the combat-level gates, not theoretical XP-per-hour edge cases:

  • Combat <20: Turael only. Stack a few tasks for unlocks, then move on.
  • Combat 20-40: Mazchna for real points. Spria if you're nearby and want sourhogs.
  • Combat 40-70: Vannaka. He's the workhorse master for the entire mid-game.
  • Combat 70-75 (no Karuulm yet): Chaeldar. Lost City is cheap to unlock.
  • Combat 75-85: Konar if you want Brimstone keys, Chaeldar if you want pure XP density.
  • Combat 85-99 (under 50 Slayer): Nieve / Steve, with Elite Western diary if possible to match Duradel's points.
  • Combat 100+ and 50 Slayer: Duradel for points and task quality, Konar for passive GP, Krystilia for points sprints.

If you're stuck at the combat-level wall, the right play is gearing up — see our OSRS Melee training guide and OSRS Magic training guide for the fastest paths to combat 75 and 100. Cape unlocks like Vorkath fights also bring combat XP fast; the Vorkath guide covers that.

Skipping vs blocking tasks: the basic strategy

Every master has a list of tasks you'll dread — slow XP, awful drops, painful travel. You have three ways to deal with them:

  1. Skip: 30 reward points per skip, no permanent effect. Best for tasks you only sometimes mind.
  2. Block: 50-100 points depending on master, permanent until you unblock. Best for tasks you would always skip — typically the bottom three on a master's list by XP/hr.
  3. Turael skip: Free. Visit Turael, take a low-tier task instead, complete one task, then return to your normal master. Costs you one streak-tick but saves the 30-point skip fee.
  4. NPC Contact: Lunar spellbook spell that re-rolls your task at the source master. Costs runes only, no points — use this for cheap re-rolls when the task isn't bad enough to block.

The right priority for any account: unlock all six block slots first (600 points total), block your worst three tasks, then re-evaluate after 50-100 tasks at the new master. The XP/hr difference between a clean task list and a default one is dramatic — often 30%+ over a long streak.

For the full Slayer training path including which monsters to chain and which to extend, see our Ultimate OSRS Slayer guide from level 1 to 99. If you're pushing through a Fire Cape requirement on the way to combat 100, the Fire Cape strategies guide walks the whole Inferno-adjacent setup. And don't sleep on Prayer — the OSRS Prayer guide covers the cheapest paths to 70+ Prayer, which doubles your survival on high-tier Slayer tasks.

Frequently asked questions

What level do you need for Duradel?

Duradel requires combat level 100 and Slayer level 50, plus completion of the Shilo Village quest to physically reach him. He is the highest-tier standard Slayer Master in OSRS, paying 15 points per task with milestone bonuses up to 750 points at the 1,000-task mark.

Which Slayer Master gives the most points?

Krystilia gives the most points per task at 25, with milestone bonuses reaching 1,250 points at the 1,000th task — the highest in the game. All her tasks must be completed in the Wilderness, which carries PK risk. Outside the Wilderness, Konar's 18 points per task (20 with Elite Kourend & Kebos diary) is the highest standard rate.

Can you skip Turael tasks?

Yes — Turael's own tasks can be skipped or blocked using reward points like any other master's, at the same 30-point skip cost or 40-point block cost. The "Turael skip" trick is different: it refers to swapping a hard task from a higher master for one of Turael's easy tasks, which costs no points but counts as a task in your streak.

How many Slayer points do you get per task?

Points per standard task range from 0 (Turael, Spria) up to 25 (Krystilia). The full progression is: 0 / 0 / 6 / 8 / 10 / 18 / 12 / 15 / 25 for Turael, Spria, Mazchna, Vannaka, Chaeldar, Konar, Nieve, Duradel, and Krystilia respectively. The first four tasks in a streak pay nothing, and milestone tasks (every 10th, 50th, 100th, 250th, 1,000th) pay larger bonuses.

Is Konar worth using over Nieve?

Konar pays more points per task (18 vs Nieve's 12) and rewards Brimstone keys, which are worth roughly 60k each on average. Nieve has a less restrictive task pool — Konar's location-lock can force inconvenient travel. Many players alternate: Konar when key-farming, Nieve / Steve when they want pure XP density. With the Elite Western Provinces diary, Nieve's points match Duradel's exactly, which closes the gap.

Should I always Turael skip?

No. Turael skipping resets your task streak's progress toward the next milestone (10th, 50th, 100th), so it costs you the bonus points from completing that streak. For a 1,000-task streak the average bonus is roughly 1.775x the base points, so frequent Turael skipping is a points loss over time. Block your worst tasks instead, and reserve Turael skips for genuinely cripple tasks like Aviansies for ironmen or pyrefiends without ranged setup.

Skip straight to Duradel

Stuck at combat 90 with 35 Slayer, watching Nieve's task list stay locked behind a tier you can't break? The gear gap is real. Bandos chestplate and tassets, an abyssal whip, an Occult necklace, a Toxic blowpipe — the kit that pushes you from combat 80 to 100 in a few weeks instead of a few months.
